It’s been a slow start for the summer season and it seems Long Island has been getting April showers in May and June. However every weekend there is an ever-increasing presence of bikes on the road. I happen to have mine in...
pieces right now performing a small repair and taking advantage of the situation by also adding some upgrades. I can’t wait to get it back together. I was working on it today and every 15 minutes or so I hear the sound of a bike going by. Living down by Port Jeff the summer air is always filled with the sound of a bike cruising by. Sometimes a Sport bike and sometimes a V-Twin either way you cant help but get the urge to hop on your ride and go for a scoot. I was at a BBQ party on Saturday and a few of my friends rode there. Just looking at the bikes in the driveway and listening to them leave at the end of the night just gets the blood flowing. What is it that provokes these feelings? Is it an addiction or am I just obsessed as I am told all the time. I don’t quite know. I just know that when I am on my bike it all feels right. The wind in your face, the sun beating down on your skin, and the different smells you pick up on while you are riding. The feeling of freedom and the lack of confinement that most people have grown numb to. It all comes together and creates something you never forget and something you always crave. Those who get it really get it and those that don’t, well I’m sorry to hear it because there is nothing like it. Its not just a form of transportation it is also an avenue of self healing and a form of expression. It brings so much to so many and so little to so few. Well until I get mine back together I guess I’ll just have to listen to them go by. In the meantime I would like to ask for some feedback from the members. If there are any questions pertaining to motorcycles or the subject of riding, or if you just want to chat please email them to Joe or Danny. All questions and or topics of discussion are welcome. |
