Image I had the honor of attending a very special event this morning. A Polar Plunge set up by the local Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) to benefit the Special Olympics. Even though...

the temperature was in the 30's with a strong wind, about 40 to 50 people braved the cold and plunged into the frigid waters of Bar Beach in Port Washington. Nassau's finest represented full force with land, sea and air covered.  Even S.W.A.T was on site. With a nice array of custom cars a couple bikes and some classic police vehicles there was something for everyone. Hats off to all who made the plunge and helped raise money and awareness for this noble cause. Next year I am going to make the plunge as well. I have heard it said you can't keep what you get without giving back. I believe this is true. I also think this runs true is some form or another through out the bike community. Between the runs and fundraisers we are always giving back. There are a host of events on the calendar to attend for a bit of giveback as well as some fun so pick one and show your support. My buddy's wife is doing a three day 60 mile walk for breast cancer if you can make a donation to support her please do. I did in honor of my mom and mother in-law and it feels nice. Start thinking who you might want to include in the Fallen Friends section and Bike Blessing.
