Artimus Pyle’s powerful and distinctive double bass drumming helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound. The years Artimus played with Skynyrd were the years that solidified the legend behind the band with classic rock songs such as “Saturday Night Special”, “Gimme Back My Bullets”, “That Smell”, “I Know A Little” and “Freebird”.

Pyle served in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) from 1967-1971 and continues to show his support for the USMC by participating in Toys for Tots program annually. This spring Artimus will be releasing “Artimus Venomous”, his new album of original music. A sampler EP of 4 songs will be “on deck” for the fans.

New York Police & Fire Widow’s' & Children’s Benefit Fund will be accepting donations onsite.

Artimus Pyle, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2006 inductee and drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd, dedicates a special concert on the USS Intrepid to NYC 911 First Responders and their families. “I’ve wanted to do this concert since that fateful Tuesday, it means a lot to me to show my appreciation to our American Hero’s”, says Pyle.

The concert, sponsored by Harley Davidson of New York City, will be held on the lower flight deck of the USS Intrepid Air, Sea & Space Museum on Sunday, March 12, 2006 from 1-3 pm. The USS Intrepid will be charging regular museum prices for this event, and the music is free with admission to the ship. The concert is appropriate for all ages and the front rows are reserved for uniformed Fire, Police and Military personnel.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will also be inducting Black Sabbath, Blondie, Miles Davis, Sex Pistols, along with Lynyrd Skynyrd.
