ImageThe "Fallen Friends" section of this site is getting the green light. This section will be a memorial for friends who we have lost and wish to have remembered. The section will be public meaning everyone will be able to view and remember their friend, however...

only members will be allowed to submit a "Friend" and/or make a posting about them and others. This is to insure a state of honor and reverence in the memorial. No tomfoolery or disrespect will be tolerated.

Here is how I envision this section. It will be similar in layout as other sections with an identifying icon at the head of section with the names of our Fallen Friends listed below. Each name can include a date of birth and date of death as well as a few words not unlike an obituary. I am pretty sure I can include a small photo as well. Of course this is all predicated on who submits what.

You know how you always see flowers and stuff by the side of the road where someone was killed in an accident. Well I believe that it is just human nature to want their friend remembered and it shows in memorials across the globe from the Wall in DC to that little patch of flowers on the side of the road. People physically visit their friends when they can but we are with our friends spiritually anytime. The idea here is where the Wall is for veterans "Fallen Friends" is for motorcyclists. Whether they rode or you do it affects the community. Together in unity there is strength and in times of grieving sometimes a strong bond and good memories are enough.

While the section is assembled I will be open to ideas and opinions about this aspect of the site so feel free to contact me.

Finally in order to start this off on the right foot I have come up with away to launch the "Fallen Friends" section. On April 30th The Riders of Fire and Fire Riders are hosting the Annual Blessing of the bikes. Moloney Funeral Home in Ronkonkoma just got that nice motorcycle hearse. Well I thought it would be cool if you put the name and info of a fallen friend on a card and bring it to the blessing and then put them in a beautiful basket or ornate box and then into the motorcycle hearse and have our Fallen Friends lead us to the Shrine for the blessing. Imagine the start of the season with a blessing and our loved ones memory...at the end of the run I will load the names onto the site, where we can visit anytime we like and even drop a line of fond thoughts. Stay close for further developments and instructions. Members may log in and give their opinion through the poll on left. Ride safe.
