I left for Vegas today. I was extremely stoked to get on the road and see America from the saddle of my steel horse. My plan was to go to Las Vegas then Hoover dam on the way to the Grand Canyon then off to Four Corners and back south to Albuquerque New Mexico all by Thursday afternoon. $3.71 a gallon and a free show! I left around 11:30 am and made a quick stop at Westminster Harley to pick up a white button up road shirt to get some protection from the sun because I hate lotions and sunscreens. I quickly gobbled up the California freeways to the desert and man it was hot. I stopped for gas around Death Valley the only stop for many miles. The gas was $3.71 a gallon for regular and that’s all they had. As I filled up I noticed a breeze kick up some dust on the gas station driveway and it quickly turned into a dust devil which is kind of like a mini tornado, it was so cool, it grew Pink elephants in Vegas Go figure |

I started off the day with breakfast at Circus Circus I figured with my affinity for clowns I had to stop in this place. It was cool lots of clowns and circus themed décor and the buffet was enough to fill me for the long jaunt I was about to take. My goal today is to get to the Grand Canyon and then Four Corners. So I could shoot for Albuquerque tomorrow morning. I was doing great on time. Gobbling up miles until I got to the freakin Hoover Dam |

Monument Valley I got up early to get some breakfast and make some time but when I walked out of my room and looked to my left I realized this hotel was on the edge of the canyons and the view was awesome. I banged down a meal and hit the road. I went to monument valley a vast and beautiful place on the border of Arizona and Utah. This is the actual location for many of the old John Wayne westerns. Dyna at 4 Corners I motored my way up thru Utah and Colorado in a big crescent shape and ended up in Four Corners (the only place in the country where four states touch) where I took a couple pictures and quickly hit the road for Albuquerque New Mexico. I was having a hell of a time trying to get a signal for my cell phone ever since I left Vegas and I needed to contact the guys I was meeting up with and like now because I had no idea where I was going in Albuquerque. The tollbooth clerk gave me directions to a area I should be able to get a signal. |

The Hyatt Regency Tamaya resort in Santa Ana Pueblo is really an unbelievable. The way it is laid out is really amazing. Staying true to the landscape and yet bringing in a beautiful, classy and huge hotel into the desert without being an eye sore. As a matter of fact you can't even see it from the road. But there it was a gigantic low lying beautiful hotel, surrounded by motorcycles and the Batmobile! The hotel plaza The Caped Crusader rides a HD? New Mexico from what I could tell from yesterdays trek didn’t have much to offer but today would change my perspective. New Mexico is really beautiful. A stark contrast from what I had been seeing so far. Rather than desert terrain and rock formations we were carving up the state via 68, 64 and 87. Roads filled with mountainous landscape with lush |

Up early and ready to rock Rob, Bill, Diamond, Joe and I ran across the Texas pan handle via I-40 into Oklahoma. Shortly after we hit the road a bird that looks like a roadrunner skydives into Robs Fairing and impales itself on his highway bar. Yes there are pictures but tread lightly it ain't pretty. About a hundred into Oaklahoma on 152 surrounded by nothing...Flat! |
