How did I end up back here and The King

This trip has been filled with numerous pleasures and joys. From wonderfully carved roads through the mountains to straight-aways as far as the eye can see. Today would start with us leaving Oklahoma’s fairly flat and farm filled world and entering the forests of Arkansas.
The things we most often stopped for were water, gas, and pictures and then food. We rarely took the interstates and for the most part steered clear of tourist attractions. This made it some what challenging to get something for my children along the way as I was attempting to get something from each state. But every so often I would come across something cool. Like I did today, a Cafe/gas station with my name, a welcome sign to the town of Sheridan that made me think of Lee and Greg at Full Throttle, and as
Monday Today we will tackle the Natchez trace parkway and head to Kentucky. The Natchez is very similar to Skyline drive it is two lanes of moderately winding road. But where Skyline is a lot of tree covered road and fairly high altitudes. The Natchez is open and not as curvaceous. At least the sections we covered were not until we got to the Nashville area which is where we got back on I-40 for a short scoot to 231 north to 31E to 52 to 53 which turns into 61 as we entered Kentucky.
One thing I have to say is Rob is very adept at finding cool routes to take as we traverse this great nation of ours. We started our day with a big breakfast at the Waffle Palace and quick stop at K-mart for supplies. I needed sox, shorts and video tape. I also got a Kentucky roadmap shirt. One of only two t-shirts I purchased the whole trip, the other was from Rude Rick’s Custom Choppers when we had the flat. I used to get a HD shirt from every state or dealer we hit but now I tend to just get a shirt when it ties into a real memorable event, like riding in Kentucky and the day we met Rude Rick in Oklahoma.
Today is the day we will cruise Skyline drive and hit Gettysburg and then the York HD plant. We fuel up have a coffee and a doughnut and hit the trail. Skyline drive runs 103 miles in the mountains from Waynesboro to Front Royal through Shenandoah. It truly is beautiful. A wiggling winding up and down carnival of road with some breathtaking vistas scattered throughout. If you have not given this road a shot do your self a favor and do it because
