ImageAerosmith front man Steven Tyler has joined forces with Red Wing Motorcycles to create his owns visionary bikes which you can view at their website. This venture got me thinking about my interesting relation to Aerosmith and I would like to share it with you here.

Aerosmith impacted me big on their very first album and even more so later in life. I was in ninth grade and I got their debut album in the mail through a record club I belonged to. Dream on was on the radio but the rest of the album really blew me away, Write me, Movin' out, Walkin' the dog, holy crap the album is so much more than Dream on and Momma kin. There was a guy on the school bus named Image

LINY BIKERS!!! HELP SAVE THE WHO CARES COMMITTEE TOY RUNImage

I'm sure most of you if not all of you out there go to the Who Cares Committee Toy Run every year and have been going for many years as it is a long Island Biker tradition! Some of you may or may not know a little over two years back Bob Whelehan (a good friend of mine) who was the President of the Committee passed away due to complications caused by his Diabetes leaving his Wife and Kids with many bills to take care of. His Wife Liz known as Mom to many because of how giving she has always been took over as President of the Committee and the Toy Run to make sure the Children of the St. Chris-Ottille Residential Treatment Center in Sea Cliff Still received their Presents every year. Even with her own bills piling up!!! Well as if things where not bad enough last year while she was walking home from the Super Market a car ran a red light and hit Liz putting her out of work an into a Wheel Chair! Being the strong women she is she has fought back and can now walk around a little with the use of a cane. Liz is living on $600 a month until she can get well enough to get back to work. She can not pay all of her rent or bills! Now With a story like that you may believe Liz would be looking for some one to help her out, and why not? after all she has done for the Children of Long Island over the years! But no that is not what she is looking for. She is looking for help Running the 2007 Toy Run for the kids.
The Who Cares Committee being in Disarray has lost its AMA Charter and needs help Getting the Toy Run Sanctioned and Insured and of course they need some able body Bikers to help run the event and maybe a band or two (if not I will DJ it)and to get fliers out. They Have a place for the sign up and the party the VFW Hall, 320 South Broadway, Hicksville and are able to pay for the runs insurance! All that is needed is Help doing it all. So often we here the cry as Bikers to help one of our own and we always do!!! This time the Cry is to help one of our own Continue to help others!!! The Toy run date is set for December 9Th as it has always been the 2ND Sunday in December. ImageHoly crap summers over and its back to school. Great...now we have to watch out for school buses while we ride. Keep an eye out for the kids too. August was a great month for riding and parties. A big congratulations and thanks to Greg and Lee for five years of service to the motorcycle community. This time around an interview I did with a metal icon.

On August 15th I had the great pleasure to interview Motley Crue bassist and founder Nikki Sixx. But not as much about Motley Crue but more so about his life from December of 1986 to his eventual overdose a year later. True it inspired the song “Kick Start my Heart” but that was just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Nikki kept a diary, several of them, of the wild and tragic life he lived in that 12 months. As life moved on so did Nikki and he rocked and rolled with the Crue all over the world some more. After twenty-five years and 40 million plus albums sold along with two solo projects and numerous song collaborations and co writing “Dirt” the history of Motley Crue, he came upon the diaries. He decided to publish them. The book “The Heroin Diaries, A year in the life of a shattered rock star” hit stores September 18th. The excerpts alone will chill you. I advise you visit theheroindiaries.net and read them. Here is a taste...Image

“Merry Christmas, well that's what people say at Christmas right? Except normally they have somebody to say it to. They have their friends and family all around them, They haven't been crouched naked under a Christmas tree with a needle in their arm like and insane person in a mansion in Van Nuys” “They're not out of their minds and writing in a diary and they're not watching their holiday spirit coagulating in a spoon. I didn't speak to a single person today...” This is the chilling opening of the album as well.

After showing the diaries to...

ImageEvery national band was once a local band. That being said each time I go to a local Long Island club I am use to seeing local bands and national bands that have not yet been discovered. One such act just lacking discovery is J Rad.
J Rad began in 1997 when Jerry Cannata father of Jared (Guitar, Vocals) and Jordan (Drums, Vocals) realized his sons aged 10 and 8 respectively, were not as interested as they once were in their main hobby of mini-bikes. Music was quickly gripping his two sons. Jerry outfitted his boys with the best of everything and got ready to support their music wherever it may take them.
By the time Jordan and Jared were 11 and 13 they were...

Ground Zero

Image6AM Saturday July 28th a truck a trailer a driver and five bikes with seven riders headed to Ground Zero for the 6th annual Ground Zero Independence run to benefit Tuesdays Children and Anderson House. It looked like it was going to rain any minute all the way in and an hour or so after we arrived the skies cleared and the sun shined brightly. Thank you HP. My guess is somewhere around 600 or so bikes rolled into NYC to ride up to a beautiful rustic outdoor catering facility called Kruckers in Pomona NY which is near Bear MT. My buddy Ski commandeered me and Dyna to road captain along with the rest of the already assembled crew. After getting instructions and placement I just stood in front of the WTC cross and said a prayer and then turned around to stare at the site of the former twin towers. I welled up as I thought of that day and my friend Eric Eisenberg and all the people I know who knew someone in the towers when they fell. I also remembered what is was like to be on the air during the weeks that followed as we communed and felt through our emotions as a Long Island family with the power of words and music. The run was great all the way up and road captaining was a blast. We rolled into Kruckers to the sounds of the Allman Brothers tribute “The Brothers of the Road Band” followed by the four fingered fret fryer Dan Lawson and his band. It was on this run that I looked down and watched my odometer hit 50,000 miles and I couldn't think of a better time for that to happen. Even though I am in the middle of recovering for a terrible house fire and other heavy crap my spirit soared during that run. Life is 10% what happens and 90% how you deal with it. So hit the road crank a tune and deal with it. On the air and in the wind. Fingers
