The year is 1975. In a smokey pub called The Boot in New Orleans 3 men are drinking and pondering their futures as they toil over what to call the band they have formed. Going through each list that the individuals had brought to the table more frustration grew as more liquor poured. After dozens of choices are shot down and dozens of others create laughter they decide tonight may not be the night they find their moniker. However as they are about to leave one noticed a decoupaged picture on the wall... |

The 2009 Cold Finger Run was a huge success! Thanks to all involved starting with you for without your support there is no run. The staff at WBAB does an amazing job putting all the parts together and there are a lot of parts so thanks to all of them. Also thanks to The Civil Air Patrol for getting us in and out of Bald hill (thanks to Frank for thinking on his feet and plowing the lot and NOT putting down sand or salt) and Dave and Busters without a hitch, while the staff of Dave and Busters did an amazing job of making everyone feel welcome and warm. My hat’s off to all the Camp Adventure volunteers who braved the cold to perform registration duties.
Thanks to the guys in ABATE who surprised me with a nice speech, a cool shirt and honorary membership. Then the Hagerman Fire Department came up and gave me a shirt and $400.00 for the kids. Nice! A special thank you and a respectful salute to both the Suffolk County Police Department and The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, without the seamless coordinated effort we could not have had as safe and protected run as we did.
What would a post run party be with out rock n roll? Thanks to J. Rad for their undying commitment to this run and charity. These guys take money from their own pockets just to play the run each year and never ask for anything and even made arrangements for Randy Jackson of Zebra fame to come up and do a couple of tunes as well as a young talented Nicci Marcianti performing some guest vocal work with the boys to put a extra luster on the afternoon. Thanks to Archie at Kickstart MC towing and his lovely wife for creating the awesome Camp Adventure autograph board which raised more money and will be presented to the kids at camp this summer.
Extra props to the Riders of Fire MC for their consistent dedication to this run by going above and beyond the call of duty performing the task of road captain and assisting the authorities’ in keeping us safe. I would also like to thank our sponsors, J.R.’s Towing and Recovery, Crazy Freddy Motorsports, Miracle Mile Harley-Davidson, Cavalier and Associates, Allstate Insurance, Call-a-Head portable Toilets and Dave and Busters Grand Sports Café all of whom by their support allow for 100% of the funds raised to be given to the camp. This year, our 6th and coldest run, rose over $14,000.00. Finally to the hundreds of riders who shook my hand and said “great run thanks” I say “You’re welcome” and thanks to you…my hand is killing me. Are we gonna need a Broken Finger Run lol. See you at the Sticky Finger Twilight Run on July 12th 2009.
On the air and in the wind, Fingers
